Frequently asked questions about face masks
Here are the answers to the questions that we get asked about face masks.
Why wear a face mask?
Wearing any mask is no guarantee that you won’t catch the virus. But SneezeGuard reusable face masks South Africa, are extremely effective at capturing droplets and tiny viral particles we know as aerosols. This is the main route of transmission for the coronavirus, and some studies have shown up to a fivefold increase in protection with these kinds of barriers. In the midst of the pandemic and the current shortages of medical-grade masks these may be the best life-saving options available to safeguard you, your family and your staff.
Droplets and Infection with CORONA-19
As the numbers increase and the chance of being in contact with infected people rises, SneezeGuard masks help reduce the pathways to infection. If there is a heightened risk through work or dealing with infected people, or being in high traffic or crowded environments using a mask is a no brainer – especially if you are ill! Those still working during lockdown or dealing with staff or customers, or even going to shop for lockdown supplies should never lower their defences by being without Sneezeguard washable mask. You don’t put up a diamond mesh fence to keep out mosquitoes. So don’t compromise on your face protection and wear one of the finest face masks on the market in South Africa.
A simple fabric protective face mask is not enough. Wear the best reusable mask in SA to protect yourself. A sneeze can hang in the air for up to three hours and spittle can turn any surface into a reservoir of infection for up to 9 days! Human coronaviruses can remain infectious on inanimate surfaces at room temperature for up to 9 days. At a temperature of 30°C [86°F] or more, the duration of persistence is shorter. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/coronaviruses-how-long-can-they-survive-on-surfaces#How-long-do-coronaviruses-persist?
Are these face masks reusable and washable?
Order your SneezeGuard reusable masks today. Stay safe, stay healthy. Supplies are limited and demand is high. Do not delay this vital process to protect yourself, family and others from infection.
Though SneezeGuard washable masks are not designed for frontline medical use, the 3 ply design, form-fitting shape, moisture-resistant treatment and high-tech filtration medium greatly reduce the chances of infection through airborne particulates and prevents inadvertent infection, through hand to face contact.
Our premium face protection is not cheap but it’s a washable face mask that’s fully reusable. In the long run, this will be a great investment as part of your personal protection equipment arsenal.
How long can I wear my washable face mask?
We sell premium reusable face masks that are fully washable. You can wear your SneezeGuard reusable face mask as long as is needed to protect yourself whilst out in public. But that means you must not remove your face mask and we suggest always having a spare mask if this need arises. Carry a second scuba washable face mask as a backup. You never know when you will need it most.
With clean hands put on your SneezeGuard face mask prior to venturing out. Adjust it so the fit around your nose and cheeks is snug, using the integrated wire strips.
Be AWARE that your washable face mask is designed to be a barrier to infected matter, so its exterior should be considered as ‘infectious’ and not touched or fiddled with while you’re out and about. AVOID touching the washable mask – wash your hands if you do.
Whenever you remove your Sneezeguard reusable face mask follow the removal instructions, carefully. Treat the outside of the washable mask like a soiled nappy! Remove the elasticated mask bands from behind your ears and fold the face mask inside out. If you can’t sterilise it immediately, put it into a sealed plastic bag. Treat it as infectious and sanitise your hands after every contact unless you are sure the mask is clean. OR remove from the bag or face and spray it with 70% alcohol or another suitable disinfectant (avoid bleach). Alternately wash your protective face mask in warm, soapy water and put it in the sun to dry. NOTE: the sun’s power to de-activate viruses should not be underestimated UV light is one of the most powerful sterilising agents available. UV sterilization of your reusable masks is also an option and our Purple Ray sterilizer units are fully suited for home and light industrial use.
After touching the protective face mask, thoroughly wash your hands in warm soapy water for 20 seconds or use a suitable sanitiser. If possible, leave the washable mask in direct sunlight until its next use. Repeat the above steps meticulously each and every time you remove and refit your washable face mask.
Your face mask is fully washable – wash as often as you feel the need. It’s better to over sterilize your PPE than take any chances.
